Asian women are envied throughout the world for their flawless skin and ageless complexion. This is because they incorporate some traditional ancient skincare ingredients in their everyday beauty routines. Those magical anti-aging ingredients are pearl and silk.
In our Silk moisturizing complex we use pure Japanese silk powder produced from high quality silk using sophisticated technology in order to retain its chemical properties, and are made up of 100% fibroin, which contains 18 kinds of amino acids and trace elements essential to the human body. The two proteins that comprise silk — sericin and fibroin provide a protective veil of hydration like a second skin without weighing it down, revealing a lustrous glow.
Silk protein has good film-forming properties and is beneficial for maintaining the normal function of skin surface film and has the function of natural humidity-regulating factor. According to research, silk powder has the function of preventing ultraviolet radiation. Adding about 10% of silk fibroin powder to the cosmetic formula can effectively absorb ultraviolet rays, inhibit the formation of a large amount of melanin in skin, and prevent the formation of pigmentation.
Pearl
Pearls have long been valued as a decorative embellishment, but they have also been prized for their ability to condition and perfect the skin. Nutrient-rich powder from ground pearls was used for a facial treatment in Egypt, China and Japan.
To maximize results we also add Japanese pearl powder to our moisturizer which comes from Akoya saltwater oysters. Akoyas are rare because they are sensitive to water quality and do not survive in polluted environments. In contrast, freshwater pearls are more abundant, because they come from easier-to-breed mussels rather than oysters. Akoyas produce a pearl with superior luster, iridescence and overall quality.
Pearl powder’s benefits come from its abundance of calcium, magnesium, and iron, plus a remarkable protein of 17 amino acids called conchiolin. Conchiolin hydrates the skin, rebuilds collagen and increases skin’s barrier action for retaining moisture. It also tones skin and inhibits melanin production. Pearl powder promotes porcelain-like, glowing skin with smooth texture.
